What is Statius?

Statius is a set electronic statistical tables for Microsoft Windows. The application will allow you to obtain statistical values for six popular distributions. It eliminates the tedious process of searching through pages of tables to find a value. And when working on the QReview examples, questions and problems, it will prove extremely helpful.

Statius supports the following distributions.

check.gif (1471 bytes) Normal
check.gif (1471 bytes) Binomial
check.gif (1471 bytes) Poisson
check.gif (1471 bytes) Student-t
check.gif (1471 bytes) F
check.gif (1471 bytes) Chi-Square

Statius opens as a small window. You have the option of allowing it to sit on top of your other applications so it is always available.

The normal selection will return the area under the curve from negative infinity to Z. The binomial selection will return the individual or cumulative probability values for problems involving fraction defective. The Poisson selection returns the individual or cumulative probability values for problems involving fraction defective or defects per unit. Statius returns the critical values for the Student-t, F and Chi-Square distributions for selected degrees of freedom and levels of significance.

An on-line help file provides the mathematical formulas for each distribution and explains how they work. Sketches of the continuous distributions are shown to remind you what you are computing.

Note: Laptop or other computers are not permitted while taking the CQE exam. Statius will be very helpful during your study sessions and your job but not during the exam.
